A celebratory homecoming event for Olympic medallist Mona McSharry will take place in Ballyshannon, hosted by Marlins Swimming Club.
Mona is a former member of the club and the Grange native has had fantastic support from the Erneside town throughout her career.
The homecoming event will be a big celebration of the achievements of Mona and her coach and mentor of many years, Grace Meade
A spokesperson for Marlins Swimming Club said: “This very special celebration will take place on Wednesday, August 28 from 6pm to 9pm with a victory parade, concert with special guests at the Market Yard.
“We are asking everybody to be present on the evening of August 28 for what will be a memorable occasion for Marlins Swimming Club, Ballyshannon and the wider locality.”
Having won a bronze medal in the 100m breaststroke at the Paris Olympics, Mona had the honour of being a Team Ireland flagbearer alongside Fintan McCarthy for the closing ceremony at Stade de France in Paris.
The Ballyshannon homecoming is sure to be a fantastic evening of celebration, especially since it had originally thought that it would be several months before Mona would be in the north west.
