A child has been rescued off rocks in west Donegal after getting into difficulty when paddle boarding.
The rescue was carried out by Bunbeg Coast Guard near Dunmore, Carrickfinn, after reports of a child on a paddle board being washed off-shore.
The rescue occurred last Saturday night but details of the incident were released this weekend.
Bunbeg Coast Guard immediately launched a boat after being tasked to the incident by Malin Head Marine Rescue Coordination Centre.
The boat arrived at the acne within minutes and the crew recovered a child from rocks close to Magheraclogher Strand.
“We’d like to take this opportunity to praise the bravery of the young child who did everything right and prevented a much worse outcome,” Bunbeg Coast Guard said when sharing details of the rescue on Friday.
“The child’s parents also remained calm and alerted the coast guard as soon as they realised the seriousness of the situation.”
