The founder of Buncrana’s Children’s Charity Adrian McMyler is to return as the organisation’s chairperson.

After stepping down in 2022 to emigrate to Australia, where he spent just under a year, Adrian is back at the helm, eager to continue the vital work of the charity.

While in Sydney, Adrian served as the marketing manager for the Sydney St Patrick’s day organisation. His experience there has only deepened his commitment to community service, and he returns to Buncrana full of enthusiasm and fresh ideas for the charity.

“I’m excited to be back in the reins,” said Adrian. “This charity has always been close to my heart, and I look forward to continuing to develop our efforts to help as many children as we can.”

Adrian also encourages everyone in Inishowen to get involved with the charity. “You can help us help our sick children by nominating a child in need via our website. All nominations are strictly confidential,” he added.

Mc Myler looks forward to working closely with all the volunteers, including our shop volunteers. “Each and every one of them is the heart and soul of our charity,” he said. Adrian also acknowledges Lorraine Mc Bride and Bernie O'Neill, who sadly passed away while he was in Australia.

Jade Doherty, who is stepping down as chairperson, would like to thank the public for their unwavering support towards the charity and for her personally during her time in the role. Jade also extends her gratitude to Catherine Carlin, who worked alongside her as co-chairperson, for her significant contributions to the charity. Jade wishes Adrian and the committee all the best in the days, months, and years ahead, and assures everyone that she will always be around to help with the charity.

Adrian Mc Myler and Jade Doherty would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the committee members for their ongoing support. In particular, Adrian wishes to acknowledge Donna Fullerton, Jacqueline Culligan, and Jade Doherty for their hard work and dedication, as all will be stepping down from their roles. The charity warmly welcomes new committee members Tanya Mc Laughlin, Breda Gibbons, and Caitlin Crossan.

Additionally, the charity is delighted to confirm that current members Patricia Ferguson, Martina Duncan, Majella Mc Laughlin, Amanda Nelson, and Catherine O Donnell will all be remaining on the committee for the year ahead.

Inish Theatre Group has chosen Buncrana’s Children’s Charity as the beneficiary for A Night with the Stars 2025, making the upcoming months even more exciting for the charity.

As the charity moves forward, the next major event on the calendar is the much-anticipated Bridgerton-themed ball, scheduled for Saturday November 30. This annual fundraiser, features one of Ireland’s best country bands, Johnny Brady and Band. The charity is also seeking business sponsors for the event, and interested parties are encouraged to reach out via email at buncranaschildrenscharity@gmail.com.

"We are so lucky to have helped so many children in the last year, and we hope to help even more this year," said Mc Myler. "We are incredibly thankful to all the individuals, organisations, and businesses who donate to us yearly. Your generosity makes all the difference."
