A 20-year-old man is being sent forward to the circuit court on a charge of sale and supply of cannabis.

Ethan Fergus of 35 The Causeway, Crest of the Wave, Magheracar, Bundoran admitted having cannabis for sale or supply at his home address on June 2, 2021.

The offence is contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and contrary to Section 27 (3) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977, as substituted by Section 6 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1984.

Fergus is also charged with two counts of possession of cannabis at the same location on the same date.

At Ballyshannon District Court on Friday, September 6, Frank Dorrian, solicitor for the accused, told the court that the book of evidence had previously been served.

“It was adjourned to today to allow for him to be sent forward on an assigned plea and that is what is happening,” said Mr Dorrian.

Inspector Tony Byrne confirmed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) consented to the accused being sent forward for sentence to the next sitting of Donegal Circuit Court, sitting in Letterkenny and commencing on December 10.

Judge Sandra Murphy sent him forward on a bail bond of €500.

Legal aid was granted to Frank Dorrian as well as one junior and one senior counsel.
