Man to face trial for assaulting a woman and causing her harm in Bundoran

The defendant has been sent forward for trial to the circuit court

A 53-year-old man has been sent forward for trial for assaulting a woman and causing her harm. 

Igor Gapcenko of 12 Benbulben View, Bundoran is charged that on December 9, 2023 at his home address, he assaulted Natalja Leksina, causing her harm. The offence is contrary to Section 3 of the Non-fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997. 

At Ballyshannon District Court on Friday, September 7, Garda Shane Connolly gave evidence of serving the defendant with the book of evidence.

A Russian interpreter was present in court. 

Inspector Tony Byrne told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) directed for the accused to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Donegal Circuit Court sitting in Letterkenny and commencing on December 10. 

Barrister Katherine Henry acting for Kieran O’Brien solicitors asked that the book of evidence be translated into Russian.

Judge Sandra Murphy sent the defendant forward for trial as per the directions of the DPP.
