Woman airlifted off Errigal after suffering fall

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team was on the scene

A woman was airlifted off Errigal on Tuesday after suffering a fall.

The woman suffered a suspected lower limb fracture in the incident.

Donegal Mountain Rescue Team were tasked at 12.36pm by the National Ambulance Service to assist.

The Rescue 118 crew was also on the scene along with the Bunbeg Coast Guard.

“As the weather conditions worsened, Rescue 118 lowered the paramedic to below the casualty, who made his way up with the Coast Guard to the casualty's location,” a Donegal Mountain Rescue Team spokesperson said.

“Rescue 118 then waited while the paramedic stabalised the casualty. After a few attempts, the casualty was successfully moved to a better location so as to be winched up and taken to LUH.”

Bunbeg Coast Guard, who were tasted by the Malin Head Coast Guard, said the casualty sustained a suspected lower limb fracture.

A spokesperson said: “We’d like to wish the casualty a swift and full recovery.”
