Ronan Wilson (9) was killed in a tragic collision in Bundoran last September
A special weekend of events is planned to mark the first anniversary of the death of a nine-year-old boy killed in Bundoran.
The short life of Ronan Wilson will be remembered with the Ronan Wilson Memorial Truck and Car Run to take place on Saturday and Sunday.
The event, to be held on the grounds of Kildress Joinery, will be in aid of Air Ambulance Northern Ireland and Kildress Health Matters.
Little Ronan was killed when he was struck by a car at Atlantic Way, Bundoran on September 23, 2023. His first anniversary Mass will take place on Monday evening at St Mary’s Church in Dunamore.
Last September, the white coffin carrying his remains were taken to the same church on the back of a lorry cab and this weekend will see a drove of trucks converge in tribute. A series of family fun events will take place at the venue over the two days.
Ronan was a pupil at St Mary’s primary school and a keen footballer with the Wolfe Tone’s GAA club in Kildress.
His heartbroken parents, Emma and Dean, and siblings, Calum and Amy, held Ronan after the tragic collision in Bundoran.
In July, a 23-year-old man, Sergee Kelly from Upper Mullaghmore, County Sligo, signed a guilty plea to four charges in connection with the fatal collision, including dangerous driving causing death.
Kelly will be returned to Donegal Circuit Court.
