A well-loved voice in traditional Irish music, Diane Cannon, has released the first single from their highly anticipated upcoming album.

The song, Bean an Fhir Ruaidh, is a local version of a well-known traditional piece, generously shared by sean-nós singer Brian Danny Minnie Ó Domhnaill.

Recorded in the studio with renowned producer and musician Donal O'Connor, the track also features the exceptional talents of Steve Cooney. The accompanying music video was filmed at the picturesque Crolly Distillery in west Donegal, providing a perfect backdrop to the song's rich heritage.

Speaking about the recording process, Meenlaragh native Diane expressed deep gratitude for the collaboration: "It was a joy to work with Donal, who knows my music so well, and Steve, whose sensitivity to the Irish language and its songs made this experience truly special."

Diane is a highly successful recording and touring artist, regularly performing across Europe, Asia, and the USA at major festivals. She has a strong connection with Scotland, frequently collaborating with renowned Scottish musicians and engaging with the Gaelic language.

Her previous releases include Daily Growing, a heartfelt collaboration with the late Ted Ponsonby, and her well-received album recorded with Manus Lunny of Capercaillie. She also works extensively with radio and TV, with a new documentary set to air later this year.

In addition to her music, Diane teaches Irish through songs on her website, IrishSongLessons.com. She also works in marketing for Donegal’s iconic Fanad Lighthouse and has a deep connection to Tory Island working with other local businesses there on her 'DonegalMusicTrails' tours. Actively involved in organising events and festivals, her most recent project connects the Donegal Gaeltacht with Scotland and the Hebrides, celebrating the shared traditions of music, song, and dance. Bean an Fhir Ruaidh is now available, with the full album set to be released later this year.
