Church of Ireland appoints new rector for west Donegal Churches

Reverend Arthur Burns has been appointed the new Church of Ireland Rector for three west Donegal churches.

Rev Burns will be the rector for Carrickfin, Bunbeg and Dungloe.

Rev Burns will be joined by his wife, Norma, who is a lay reader.

Most recently having served in Glendermott, Rev Burns was ordained in September, 2012 by Bishop Ken Good.

He will now oversee the Churches at Carrickfin St Andrew, Templecrone St Crone and Gweedore St Patrick.

He replaced Dean Liz Fitzgerald, who in 2023 became the Diocese of Derry and Raphoe’s first female dean. She was appointed as  Rector of the Grouped Parishes of Raphoe, Raymochy and Clonleigh and Dean of St Eunan’s Cathedral.
