The late Bernie Whoriskey, Carrowen, Burt
Tributes and condolences have been flooding in for the late Bernie Whoriskey, Carrowen, Burt, who passed away on October 30, 2024.
The former carer is remembered for her caring nature and as one mourner put it: "She was a character and had a good heart".
Pages of loving tributes have been left to Bernie in the days since her death many of which are from those who remember her impact on people from her days as a carer.

One person wrote: "So sad to hear of Bernie’s death …. May she rest in peace …. Bernie was a wonderful caring person and we have fond memories of her time working in 34 greenfort as a carer where she cherished the ladies in her care … they all loved her dearly."
Another message read: "A beautiful person with a lovely smile who was so caring."
Bernie's impact on the wider community she was a part of was outlined in one message which said: "Bernie was a great neighbour & friend to us all" while another person wrote: "I have fond memories of being in school together and always stayed friends. A lovely, kind lady and always in good humour."

A woman whose father had been in Bernie's care also paid tribute to her and the impact she had had, she wrote: "I am so sad to hear this news. Bernie, was a wonderful, kind and funny lady. I'm forever grateful to her, for her support in caring for my dad in his final years."
Bernie will be forever missed by her loving husband Seamus, their amazing dog Major, brothers Pat, Anthony, Peter, Gerard and Eugene, sisters Kathleen and Anna B, in-laws, nieces, nephews and all her extended family.
