Plans have been lodged for the development of 32 new student apartments in the heart of Letterkenny.
A new four-storey building is being proposed for a site just off the Port Road in close proximity to An Grianan Theatre and the Regional Cultural Centre.
The site in question is located just behind the Four Lanterns.
M&B Kelly have sought planning permission to Donegal County Council seeking to construct the new building.
The new building would include 32 student apartments as well as ancillary and associated accommodation to the student apartments including a day room, servery, laundry room, IT Room and plant room.
The plans include provisions for a new foul sewer connection to the existing public sewer, a new storm water connection to the existing public sewer and a new water connection from the existing public water main.
The developers also provides for a disabled on-site parking space, e bicycle parking and bin storage and all associated site development works.
In supporting documentation that have been submitted to the local authority, they say that the Letterkenny 2040 draft Masterplan has recently been published and presents an exciting vision for the future of the town.
“The subject site with its proximity to An Grianan Theatre and The Regional Cultural Centre is located where it can be of benefit in perusing the goals of the 2040 masterplan,” they said.

In order to maximise the available site area, the four-storey building with a rooftop space used for a day room, servery, IT room and laundry room is proposed.
The proposed student accommodation which consists of a bedroom with an en-suite, storage and a study area.
