Congressman Brendan Boyle has won reelection to the US House of Representatives.
Boyle, the son of a Glencolmcille man, represents Pennsylvania.
With votes still being tallied, Boyle will return for a sixth term in his heavily Democratic district in Philadelphia. The Associated Press have already declared Boyle as the winner.
Boyle, a former state lawmaker, staved off Republican Aaron Bashir.
The 47-year-old was re-elected to represent Pennsylvania's 2nd congressional district and he leads the Democrats on the House Budget Committee. Boyle was first elected to Congress in 2014.
Prior to representing the Philadelphia district, Boyle was the representative for Pennsylvania’s 13th Congressional District. He served as a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 2009 to 2015.
