Four men have pleaded guilty to the serious assault of a man in his home in Meenaneary.

The four were all before Donegal Circuit Court where they pleaded guilty.

Marcus Love, a 20-year-old of Meenadreen, Donegal Town; Jordan Ryle, aged 25 and of Railway Park, Donegal Town; 24-year-old Kieran Hughes, with an address at Corlis, Castlerea, Co Roscommon; and Kyle Farrelly, a 27-year-old from Moylaragh Walk, Balbriggan, Co Dublin were all before Judge John Aylmer.

Each of the quartet was formally arraigned. The men appeared together in court.

They are charged with assault causing harm to Christopher Lowther at Meenaneary Close, Carrick, Co Donegal on July 14, 2022.

The charge is contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Each man spoke only to plead guilty when the charge was put to them.

A probation and welfare report was sought in the case of all four defendants by their respective barristers: Mr Simon Gillespie BL for Hughes; Mr Sean McGee BL for Love; Mr Ciaran O’Rourke BL for Farrelly; and Mr Peter Nolan BL for Ryle.

Judge Aylmer sought a probation report for each of the four men to include an assessment for community service.

The case was adjourned on the same terms and conditions.
