Two men have been sent forward for trial at the circuit, one for allegedly assaulting a garda and causing him harm, and the other for assaulting another man and causing him harm.

At Donegal District Court on Wednesday, December 4, a book of evidence was served on both men.

Brannor Mullan, 25, of 4 Drum ROad, Omagh, is charged that on September 2, 2023 at The Diamond, Donegal Town, he allegedly assaulted Garda Mark Sweeney and caused him harm. He is also charged with assaulting the same garda in the execution of his duty.

His brother Tirynn Mullan, 21, of the same address is charged that he allegedly assaulted Michael McHugh causing him harm.

Garda Eoghan McAllister gave evidence of serving the book of evidence ahead of the court appearance.

Sergeant Oliver Devaney told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) consented to both men being sent forward for trial to the sitting of Donegal Circuit Court, which began in Letterkenny on December 10.

Related public order charges against both men were adjourned to Donegal District Court on May 7.

Judge Sandra Murphy sent both men forward to the circuit court on continuing bail, on condition that they be of good behaviour and not commit any offence.
