'Arranmore Blu' arrived to Donegal in recent days

A new ferry arrived at Arranmore island this week.

Arranmore Blu will begin service in early 2025 having been dispatched to the island in recent days.

The Arranmore Ferry team took receipt of the new vessel, which was build by Bute Boatbuilders in Scotland. They say the new boat will represent “is a significant upgrade for The Arranmore Ferry, promising improved comfort, capacity, and efficiency for residents and visitors alike”.

New TD Charles Ward, a native of the island, was at Burtonport for the launch of Arranmore Blu.

“A great and exciting day for Arranmore and Burtonport,” Deputy Ward said. 

The boat left Scotland for Arranmore on Thursday last after the handover took place on the slipway of Bute Boatbuilders on Wednesday.
