Drug-driver arrested in Letterkenny after speeding detection

When tested at the roadside, the driver - stopped after being found travelling at 138km/h - tested positive for the presence of cannabis and was arrested by Gardai.

A drug-driver was arrested on Letterkenny on Friday after being detected driving at high speed.

Officers from the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit detected a vehicle travelling at 138km’/h.

The road in question was governed by a speed limit of 100km/h.

When tested at the roadside, the driver tested positive for the presence of cannabis and was arrested by Gardai. 

Earlier on Friday, Letterkenny Gardai made 12 detections of drivers travelling in excess of the 100km/h limit. They included drivers at 132km/h, 130km/h and 123km/h.

A van was also seized by Gardai who found it to have no tax or insurance.
