Fundraiser and Tory Islander Niamh Ní Dhubhgáin went the extra mile by air, road and sea to deliver a donation to Arranmore RNLI.
Flying from Tory to Falcarragh by helicopter, driving to Burtonport by car and catching the ferry from there to Arranmore, Niamh finally arrived at her destination at Arranmore Lifeboat station and presented Sadie Bonner from Arranmore RNLI fundraising committee with a very generous donation of €4,195.90.
The funds were raised over the past year by selling t-shirts, hosting a coffee morning, a football tournament and a night of music.

Niamh said: “We are really pleased to present this money to Arranmore RNLI again this year. As an island and fishing community, the lifeboat is our first port of call in the event of an emergency and we depend on the crew to answer the call whatever the time day or night, we are really grateful for all the lifeboat crew does for us.
“We are also delighted to present the works of art to Arranmore lifeboat station designed by local artist Noreen Meenan. Noreen’s Aobheann designed the jerseys. We were actually very surprised that we had people from all over the country ordering the jerseys and appreciate their interest in the Arranmore RNLI.”
Arranmore RNLI Launch Authority, Jerry Early, said on behalf of the station: "We are incredibly impressed by this generous donation from a small community, the work and effort put into the fundraising over the years is very much appreciated.
“Niamh’s journey to present the donation in person is indeed a great honour to the crew and all involved with the station here on Arranmore and we are truly grateful to her and to Denis Sheridan and his support team visiting the station today following their swim in Arranmore in aid of The Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund. To the people of Tory Island for their generosity, we were also delighted to have Denis Sheridan and his support team visit the station today following their swim in Arranmore in aid of The Kevin Bell Repatriation Fund.”
