The signed Donegal 1992 and 2012 jerseys that were auctioned at the St Eunan's dinner dance
The two framed Donegal jerseys that went under the hammer at St Eunan’s GAA Dinner Dance have found a new home in Germany.
A figure of €7,500 was raised for the Greg Fitzgerald recovery fund on the night. Letterkenny native Greg suffered a stroke in March and is continuing his recovery at the National Rehabilitation Hospital in Dún Laoghaire.
The winning bid, which was for both jerseys, was submitted by Karol Kerrane, who is originally from Hawthorn Heights in Letterkenny. Karol is a former schoolmate of Greg’s from both Scoil Cholmcille and St Eunan’s College - and bid for the jerseys on behalf of the bar he runs, the Letterkenny Irish Pub in Rudolstadt, Germany.
The official signing of the Town Twinning Agreement between Letterkenny and Rudolstadt took place in 2018 and visitors from each make their way to the other year on year.

The auction was for a replica of the 1992 All-Ireland winning jersey, recalling when Brian McEniff’s team beat Dublin to take Sam to the Hills for the first time. Also, Rory Kavanagh donated his match-worn jersey from the 2012 Ulster final success over Down for auction. The St Eunan’s midfielder helped the side managed by Jim McGuinness go on to win Sam Maguire for only the second time when they overcame Mayo at Croke Park.
Both jerseys were framed with accompanying photographs and signed by players from the winning panels, with the 1992 jersey sponsored by 3D Personnel and the 2012 jersey sponsored by The Swilly Inn.
Those who wish to donate to the charity can do so on ‘Greg Fitzgerald's Fundraiser’ on iDonate. Auction organisers Barry, Rory and Alma Kavanagh thanked all who sponsored and supported, with significant bids also coming in from former St Eunan’s captain Sean McEwan, who is now based in Chicago, and Rose’s Bar, Creeslough. There was a special mention of thanks for fundraising to Kara Rafferty and her friends Darcy and Rose, all aged six.
