Oven owner reunited with appliance after it fell from car boot in Letterkenny

'We are happy to say that following the radio appeals last week the man in question immediately contacted the Garda station,' said Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh.

An oven picked up in Letterkenny after it fell out of a car boot has been recovered.

Last week, Gardai issued an appeal as they believed that the appliance was taken by an opportunistic thief.

A man had been transporting the oven in the area of Carnamuggagh Upper in early December and a man was observed placing the oven into a van a short time later.

“We are happy to say that following the radio appeals last week the man in question immediately contacted the Garda station,” said Garda Sergeant Eunan Walsh.

“He had removed the oven from the road and had kept it in safe storage. He had been making enquiries locally in an attempt to return it to the rightful owner.

“The oven has now been returned to the owner and they are most grateful to the man in question for his assistance.”
