Water supply to parts of the Finn Valley has been affected by Storm Éowyn after strong winds affected operations at a water treatment plant.

Uisce Éireann says customers are expected to experience a loss in pressure or outages to their supply in elevated levels of the Finn Valley and Ballybofey and Stranorlar including Meenglass, Goland, Carrickmagrath, Knock, Glencovitt, Sessiaghoneill, Cavan Upper, Cooladawson, Dunwiley, Blacklees, Lettermakenny, Creggan, Glenfin, Largnalore, Commeen, Reelin, Cloghroe, Lettermore, Kilross, Broadpath, and Meenavoy.

The utility has assured customers supplied by the Lough Mourne public water supply scheme that every effort is being made to minimise disruption to the supply following Storm Éowyn.

Uisce Éireann’s Paul Kilcoyne said work is underway to assess the issue and repair crews will commence restoration works once the status red weather warning has been lifted. Customers are urged to conserve water where possible in order to protect supply while the outages are resolved. Simple ways to conserve water can be found at the Uisce Éireann conservation calculator (www.water.ie/calculator) which can help people work out how much water they are currently using and how they can conserve even more.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Uisce Éireann’s customer care team is available to help 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also make contact on X @IWCare with any queries.
