The brain-child of Bridin Bell, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Women’s Health,  Minding Brigid is a two-day event focused on bringing all aspects of women’s health into the spotlight, open to all women from 18 to 80yrs. The event is managed by a small, diverse group of women who are determined to see appropriate and relevant information brought to as many as possible, in a safe and welcoming environment.

The first event, Minding Little Brigid, will take place on Friday, January 31  in the Abbey Hotel.

A spokesperson said: “It is designed to empower young girls (teen health for TY students) by offering information sessions that encourage them to navigate their journey in a positive, meaningful, and fulfilling way.

“Topics covered will include managing menstrual health while participating in physical activities, self-defence, building positive relationships, personal hygiene, mental health, bra fitting, skincare, and contraception.”The second event, Minding Brigid, hosted by Lorraine Keane will be held on Saturday, February 1 from 9.15am until 12.30pm in the Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town and will focus on the challenges and solutions related to peri-menopausal and postmenopausal stages.

“This interactive session will cover a range of topics including hormone replacement therapy versus natural methods, pelvic and bone health, breast and cervical screenings, support groups, and overall physical health and will be presented by professional skilled experts in each aspect of women’s health,” said the spokesperson.

“These are not for profit events with each expert giving of their time voluntarily.  The aim is to foster valuable discussions and provide essential information, contributing to a more informed and supportive community.”

The spokesperson added: “We are also excited to offer local businesses in the area of women’s health and wellbeing an exclusive opportunity to showcase their products and services at the event for a small cost, offering an opportunity to share valuable information, promoting your brand, and offering products that support their health and wellbeing."
