Three Donegal schools have been presented with their awards at this year’s Someone Like Me Art Competition National Awards Ceremony.
Glenmakee National School in Carndongh and Kilkenny National School Glenties won the Senior County Winner’s Awards, while Creevy National School was the junior winner.
Mrs Gill, with pupils Sarah Jane and Darcie picked up the Glenmakee award from the Director of the National Disability Authority, Dr Aideen Hartney; Kilkenny NS was represented by teacher Reiltín McManus and pupils Clodagh Stevens and Maeve Gallagher, while SNA Pauline Faherty, and pupils Molly Gallagher and Caolán Dinsmore were there for Creevy.
The announcement was made at an awards ceremony held at Dublin City Hall which saw teachers and pupils from 52 primary schools across Ireland gather to celebrate achieving County Winner. Now in its ninth year, the competition, which is organised and funded by the National Disability Authority, allows Ireland’s young people to learn about inclusivity and diversity through the medium of art.
