Death notices for Donegal on Monday evening, April 14

The following deaths have taken place:

Alphonsis (Phonsie) McDermott, Lecamey

The sudden death has taken place at Letterkenny University Hospital of Alphonsis (Phonsie) McDermott, Glenagivney, Lecamey.

Predeceased by his Brother Donal. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by his sister Mary, Brothers John and James, his Nephew Philip and his Wife Edel and their Children Leslie, Pj, Mollie, Daniel, David, James, Nieces and Nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours.

Phonsie’s remains will leave Eamonn McLaughlin’s Funeral Home, Station Road, Carndonagh F93 E4FN on Thursday), April 17 at 1pm going to the home of his Nephew Philip and Edel’s Home, 1 Newpark Gardens, Moville.

Removal from there on Holy Saturday (April 19th) at 10.10am for 11am Funeral Service in St Columba’s Church, Ballinacrae, Lecamey followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Funeral Mass for Phonsie will take place on Monday, April 21 at 11am in St Columba's Church, Ballinacrae, Lecamey. Family time from 10pm to 11am.

Eileen McCreanor, Strabane and Portsalon

The death has taken place on April 15 at Altnagelvin Hospital of Eileen McCreanor (née Mc Garvey), 2 Courtrai Park, Strabane and formerly of Portsalon.

Beloved wife of Jackie, much loved mother of Janette, John, Ivan, Fred, Stephen, Victoria and Jennifer and sister of Christine, Margaret, Bertie, Daniel, Winston, Davy and the late Freddie, Tommy, George and Ivor.

Funeral leaving her home on Friday afternoon, April 18 at 12.35p.m. for Service of Thanksgiving in Christ Church, Bowling Green at 1pm. Interment afterwards in Strabane Cemetery.

Deeply regretted by her sorrowing husband, sons, daughters, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brothers, sisters and family circle.

Donations in lieu of flowers please to Chest Heart & Stroke c/o Quigley Funeral Directors, 1A Newtown Place, Strabane.

House strictly private.

Nell Cullen, Bunbeg

The death has taken place at home of Nell Cullen, née Sharkey, Strand Road, Bunbeg, formerly of Mulladuff, Annagry.

Predeceased by her husband Charlie, parents; Hanna & Hughie, sisters; Maire and Bella, brother James and grandson Shane.

Sadly missed by her sons Derek (Georgina) and Leeroy (Karla), sisters; Sheila, Patsy, Margaret and Noreen, grandchildren Nancy and Louis and extended family and friends.

Her remains will repose at her home (F92 W6RK) from 2 pm to 8pm today, Wednesday, April 16 and from 11am to 8pm on Thursday. Rosary nightly at 8pm.

Funeral Service will take place in St Mary’s Church, Derrybeg (F92 H289) on Friday, April 18 at 1pm, interment afterwards in Magheragallon cemetery.

Joseph Friel, Falcarragh

The death has taken place at the Donegal Hospice of Joseph (Josie) Friel, Killult, Falcarragh.

Predeceased by his parents Frank and Maggie Friel, sisters, Sr Mary Emmanuel (Kitty), Molly, Ann, Brid and Greta and infant grandsons Joseph Anthony and Ciaran Daniel.

Sadly missed by his loving wife Geraldine, daughters Pauline, Colette and Geraldine, sons Joseph and Michael, in-laws Barry, Anthony, Ciaran, Karen amd Siobhan, sisters; Philomena, Sally and Nora, brother Seamus, grandchildren; Hannah, Molly, Joe, Lily, Fiodhna, Rory, Odhran, Aoife, Senan, Cobhlaith, Eoin and Daniel and extended family and friends.

His remains will repose at his home (F92 Y2V6) Wednesday, April 16 from 2pm to 8pm and on Thursday from 11am to 8pm. Rosary nightly at 8pm.

House private after Rosary and on the morning of the funeral.

Funeral service will take place in Christ the King Church, Gortahork at 11am on Friday, April 18, interment afterwards in the adjacent cemetery.

Kathleen Kirkland, Carndonagh

The peaceful death has taken place at Carndonagh Community Hospital of Kathleen Kirkland, Ballyloskey, Carndonagh.

Much-loved mother of Jacqueline, Annemarie, Donald, Tracy and Adelle. Predeceased by her brother James Anthony McLaughlin.

Deeply regretted by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, her nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours.

Kathleen’s remains are reposing at her home, Ballyloskey, Carndonagh, F93NP80, where all are welcome to pay their respects.

Removal from there on Holy Thursday afternoon to Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh at 12:30pm for 1pm Funeral Liturgy followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

A funeral Mass will then take place for Kathleen at 11 am on Monday, April 21 at the Sacred Heart Church, Carndonagh.

Kathleen’s funeral Liturgy and funeral Mass can be viewed live on the parish webcam.

Family time please from 10pm to 10am and on the morning of the funeral.

Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if desired to the Palliative Care Unit, Carndonagh Community Hospital, c/o any family member or Kelly’s Funeral Directors.

Bella McClafferty, Killybegs

The death has occurred of Bella McClafferty, Largy, Killybegs. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents Tom and Vera Carr. Sadly missed by her husband Pat, sons Padraig (Mary), Ronan (Laura) and Colm (Shona), daughters Colette (Anthony) and Una (Paul), grandchildren Naomi, Paddy, Sophia, Rebecca, Sam, Jack, Annabel, Tori, Fearne, Iseult, Lochlann, Daniel, Zoe and Rory, sister Mary Jo (Seanie), nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her late residence from 10am on Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16 . Removal on Thursday at 10.30am to St Mary of the Visitation Church, Killybegs for 11am Funeral mass. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Shane McGrory, Ballintra

The unexpected death has occurred of Shane McGrory.

Predeceased by his mother, Patricia, father-in-law Eddie Walsh & sister-in-law Pauline. Beloved husband to Martina and loving father to Alisha (Cathan).

Sadly missed by his father, Tim McGrory & mother-in-law Anne Walsh, his loving Brothers and Sisters; Siobhan, (Bob) Michael, (Eileen) Lorraine, (Noel) Dominic, (Anita) Sinead, (James) Lorcan, (Sharlene), Brother-in -laws, Liam, (Mary) John, (Teresa) and Edmund (Geraldine). Forever cherished by his many nieces and nephews.

Reposing at his late residence on Wednesday from 2pm until 9pm. For those attending Shane's wake, please note a one way traffic system will be in operation with entry from St Brigid's Church, Ballintra and exiting via Gary's Brae. House private on the morning of the funeral please.

Funeral Mass on Thursday at 11am in St Brigid's Church, Ballintra, followed by burial afterwards in the adjoining graveyard. Shane's Funeral Mass will be streamed live here
