The planning authority permitted the new hardware store and garden centre with eight conditions.
The green light has been given for the construction of Inishowen’s newest garden centre and hardware store.
Donegal County Council has granted permission for the new premises, which will be situated at McErlean Fuels on Muff Main Street.
In its application submitted in March, McErlean Fuels sought permission to change the use of two existing agricultural sheds into a garden centre and a new building and hardware supplies store. The fuel business was also granted retention permission for an existing storage shed and fuel yard, including three diesel tanks and pumps.

The planning authority permitted the new hardware store and garden centre with eight conditions. These included that within six months from the date of the final grant of permission, car parking should be appropriately marked with thermoplastic road marking materials. These include designated parking bays, distinguished disabled parking bays, circulation lanes and areas to be kept clear of parking.
The Council has also instructed that the opening hours of the premises are to be confined to between 8.30am and 8pm Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 6pm on Saturdays, and from 2pm until 6pm on Sundays.
Donegal County Council also stated that no signs, symbols, or other means of advertisement are to be erected or posted on the site without prior written agreement of the planning authority.
The Council also said that even in the event that signage is given approval to be erected, it can’t be in the form of plastic, internally illuminated, box facia signs or similar.
