Go Purple Day is an initiative of An Garda Síochana
Donegal gardaí will mark Go Purple Day with information events on domestic abuse across the county.
Go Purple Day will take place on Friday, May 16. It is an initiative by An Garda Síochana to raise awareness of domestic abuse and offer supports to people who are experiencing it.
Gardaí from the community policing unit in Letterkenny and Lifford will be out on the day to give leaflets on local services to local businesses. Gardaí will be wearing purple ribbons to mark the day.
Gardaí in Donegal Town Garda Station will also host an open coffee morning at 11am and everyone is welcome to attend.
Carndonagh Community School students will receive a talk on healthy relationships in conjunction with the school curriculum by gardaí from Buncrana Garda Station, in partnership with Lifeline.

Garda Niall Maguire stressed that gardaí are there to listen to and support victims of domestic abuse. If you suspect someone is a victim of domestic abuse, contact any garda station or in the case of an emergency, contact 999-112.
