Paralympian Katie-George Dunlevy is to be honoured at a civic reception in Donegal Town.

The para-cyclist has won gold for Ireland at the last three Olympic Games, and continues to compete at the highest level of her sport.

Katie-George is the daughter of Mountcharles native John Dunlevy, and she maintains strong links to the area. The village has been proud to celebrate Katie-George’s successes, turning out in force to welcome her when she visited following each of her Olympic victories.

Cllr Noel Jordan had requested that the civic reception be held, given her close connection with the area.

At the May meeting of the Municipal District of Donegal, Cllr Jordan said: “She is competing in European and world championships, so June 12 is the only date that is available.

“She would like to have it in the afternoon so that she can visit a few schools that she didn’t get to the last time she was here.

“It will be at 2pm in the afternoon.”

The event will be attended by extended family, with refreshments and entertainment.
