The Cathoirleach expressed concerns that the bus route selected in the report “cuts out” residential areas of Letterkenny
Cathaoirleach of Letterkenny, Gerry McMonagle, has urged for a council meeting to take place with the National Transport Authority (NTA) about proposed bus routes for Letterkenny.
This follows the publication of the Letterkenny Town Bus Public Consultation Report. He raised the motion at the Letterkenny-Milford MD meeting.
The Cathoirleach expressed concerns that the bus route selected in the report “cuts out” residential areas of Letterkenny, including Glencar and The Grange. He said that the bus route was “moving in the right direction” but that a meeting with the NTA needs to take place “sooner rather than later.”
He added: “It is imperative that we get a meeting with the National Transportation Authority as soon as possible.”
Cllr Jimmy Kavanagh supported the motion. Senior Executive Engineer (Roads), David McIlwaine agreed that the route “left out a fair residential area of the town.”

He added: “If the Motion is passed a request for a meeting will be forwarded to the NTA.”
