The crew made their way to the stricken vessel in perfect weather conditions and arrived shortly after being dispatched. On inspection of the boat, it was discovered that the yacht’s propellers were fouled by fishing pots, and the decision was made to cut the vessel free and tow it to Buncrana.

The all-weather lifeboat crew then proceeded to Buncrana Pier to refuel and make ready for service.

A spokesperson for Lough Swilly RNLI is advising members of the public to be water safety aware and that if: “You're in difficulty in or on the water, or see someone in trouble, please dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
