RTE and TG4 journalist, Ruairi Mac Con Iomaire, visited Convoy’s St Mary’s GAA club, overseeing a minor training session with the club’s coaches.
The Irish author is also the Director of Regional & Community Development & Language with Údaras na Gaeltachta, and visited the club before he travelled to the Donegal GAA training centre, as the county prepares for the All-Ireland Football Final.
An online statement from St Mary’s GAA said they had a “lovely visit” from Mac Con Iomaire.

It read: “A few words with our Oifig na Gaeilge Mairead Porter agus Runai Bried Ann McHugh, before spending some time capturing our young players out in their county colours as the excitement builds for the All-Ireland.”
Mac Con Iomaire then “spent some time with our under-16/minor lads with coach Oliver Prunty putting them through their paces.
“Thanks to everyone who came out for a very enjoyable evening showing their support for St Mary’s Convoy C.L.G as we get behind Jim and the lads.”
