The funeral of rock singer Jock McDonald who drowned after getting into difficulty while swimming in Bundoran last month is to take place in Kilclooney at the weekend.
The 69-year-old lead singer of punk band The Bollock Brothers, which he formed in London in 1979, was pronounced dead in Sligo University Hospital after being taken from the water by the RNLI at the ‘Diving Boards’ area of Bundoran on July 26.
Born Patrick O’Donnell in Glenties, he was raised in Rosbeg and went on to become a promoter, DJ, manager and musician.
The Bollock Brothers released eight studio albums between 1983 and 2009.
A funeral notice said Mr O’Donnell will be sadly missed by his loving family: daughter Maria Devlin, sons Kilien O’Donnell and Benjamin Godhusen, brothers Gerry and Martin O’Donnell, and by his extended family, friends, and the wider music community.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother Sarah O’Donnell (née Johnson) of Rosbeg and his father Patrick O’Donnell.
His remains will repose at Shovlin's Funeral Home in Sandfield, Ardara (F94N923) on Friday, August 8 from 3.30pm to 4.45pm, followed by removal to St Conal’s church, Kilclooney via Rosbeg, Portnoo arriving at 6pm.
The funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Saturday, August 9 with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
