Homes and businesses in the Gortahork and Falcarragh areas are without  water supply following an outage at the Ardsbeg water treatment plant.

Uisce Éireann said customers in Gortahork, Falcarragh and surrounding areas are experiencing outages and/or  reduced water pressure.

The utility said on Wednesday afternoon that it is working to restore water supply to homes and businesses.

Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann said: “We understand the inconvenience this unplanned outage is causing. Water services crews were deployed immediately and the plant is now back in production however it will take several hours for the network to refill. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.”
