The Time Out Podcast, hosted by Tony McGettigan, released its landmark 100th episode last month - a special edition featuring 18 DJs from Owenea FM Radio in Ardara.

This milestone episode, launched on July 19, shines a spotlight on the diverse voices behind the community station's various programmes. You can listen to the podcast here

Tony McGettigan, originally from Lettermacaward and now living in Dungloe, has been a dedicated contributor to Owenea FM since August 2023, where he hosts a weekly country music show. The station broadcasts every Saturday and Sunday on 100.8FM across southwest  Donegal and is also accessible worldwide via oweneafm.ie.

Launched in August 2019, The Time Out Podcast explores a range of topics, with a primary focus on GAA, soccer, and Irish country music — passions that reflect Tony’s own interests. The podcast takes a unique approach, consciously steering clear of mainstream news to offer listeners something fresh and thoughtful.

“We all need a little ‘Time Out from life,’” says the podcast's intro, voiced by Peter Dickson — best known as the iconic voice of The X Factor and a guest on the podcast in December 2020.  Tony's show often features in-depth conversations that celebrate individuals’ achievements while exploring their personal journeys and careers.

While The Time Out Podcast has featured well-known names from across Ireland, Tony remains deeply committed to telling interesting stories of people who have had a major impact on their community:

Tony said: “You can’t beat a local person’s story. Their stories are usually not shared in a public way like a podcast so I think that can add extra interest at times. Whether you’re well known or not, everyone has a story.”.

The podcast is available on all major platforms, including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and more.  Fans can also follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and X (formerly Twitter) for updates and behind-the-scenes content.
