Down Syndrome Ireland (DSI) is seeking to recruit a part-time Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to join its Donegal branch, based at 4 Garda Houses, High Road, Letterkenny.
The successful candidate will work as part of DSI’s Speech and Language Therapy team, supporting people with Down syndrome across the lifespan through assessment, therapy and communication support.
Working under the supervision of a Senior Speech and Language Therapist, the assistant will help deliver therapy programmes, co-facilitate groups, prepare therapy materials, observe and record member progress, and provide administrative support. A key part of the role involves building positive relationships with members and their families while supporting therapy goals in both paediatric and adult services.
Applicants must hold a Fetac Level 5 qualification in Speech and Language Therapy Assistance or a relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, along with at least two years’ experience working in a health setting with children and adults with disabilities. Experience with Lámh and other Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems is desirable. A full driving licence and access to transport are also required, as travel to satellite clinics, preschools, schools and day centres across Donegal will form part of the role.
