The driver was stopped in the Letterkenny area on Saturday

A Letterkenny driver who was detected travelling at 137KPH in a 100KPH speed zone later tested positive for cocaine.

The Roads Policing Unit from Letterkenny Garda Station stopped a vehicle on Saturday in the Letterkenny area as it was detected travelling 37KPH over the speed limit, in poor weather conditions. The driver then tested positive for cocaine and an arrest was made.

Court proceedings may follow pending further test results. A Fixed Charge Penalty Notice will also be issued.

Gardaí have reminded motorists to slow down and never ever drive while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
