The search continues for a fisherman reported missing from his vessel.
The fisherman was reported missing from his vessel off Mullaghmore, County Sligo and the boat was recovered with the engine running.
The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre in Malin is coordinating the search conducted by multiple assets, including the Sligo-based Coast Guard helicopter R118, Dublin-based Coast Guard helicopter R116, Killybegs Coast Guard Boat, RNLI lifeboats from Aranmore, Ballyglass, Bundoran and Sligo, along with a merchant vessel and several local vessels.
Gardaí are also assisting in the search operation.
A member of the public alerted the coordination centre to a fishing vessel aground 2 nautical miles south of Mullaghmore Head. It is believed that the fisherman from the vessel had fallen overboard, with the search concentrating in the area off Mullaghmore and out into Donegal Bay.
It is understood that the boat was recovered in the vicinity of the strand at Cliffoney with the engine still running. The search is still ongoing at this time.
