A crane is currently undertaking restoration work inside St Eunan's Cathedral in Letterkenny.
A partial closure operating since last month is to facilitate painters who are due to give the church an overhaul, although, as has been the case throughout, all weekend masses are still taking place.
"Bringing new life to this beautiful sacred space," St Eunan's Cathedral posted. "From prep work to the first brushstrokes - every detail matters when working on such a historic and Holy place. The dedication and craftsmanship going into preserving this architectural gem are truly inspiring!
"The Cathedral will fully re-open with its usual schedule on Wednesday, October 1, with the conclusion of the painting project - and thanks to the great work of Ponsonbys and our army of Cathedral cleaners, we will function as usual this weekend, 27-28 September."
