Donegal Women’s Centre launches transformative programmes to support women

Donegal Women’s Centre, in collaboration with a panel of skilled facilitators, has launched a series of transformative programmes aimed at supporting women over the age of 18 who have been through the probation or judicial system, or who may be at risk of offending.

The initiative, titled 'Facilitating and Empowering Women in Probation Programmes: Bridging the Gap to Exploring Self-Employment and Workforce Reintegration,' provides a comprehensive pathway to recovery, resilience, and reintegration.

The Programme includes Group and One to One Mentoring covering Confidence building, resilience training, and personalised support, Employment and Self Employment Pathways covering Work experience placements, employability training, and business start up guidance, Trauma Informed Care covering a safe, non judgemental space to address mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and the effects of trauma and Education & Skills Development covering Professional development workshops, job search strategies, interview preparation, and business planning.

Mary Herlihy, Manager of the Donegal Women’s Centre said: “Our aim is to empower women to take control of their future. These programmes are designed to combine emotional support with practical skills, giving participants the tools to thrive personally and professionally, whether by re-entering the workforce, starting a business, or building confidence for the next chapter in their lives.”

The centre is also working to build a strong network of partnerships with local government bodies, enterprise offices, healthcare services, the legal sector, and businesses, ensuring women have the resources and opportunities needed for successful reintegration.
