A popular Tory Island pub and restaurant has been granted planning permission by Donegal County Council for renovations and extensions to provide for a new, larger kitchen, the construction of new windows and doors, and the re-installation of the roof.
An Club, located close to Tory Island’s ferry terminal, applied for planning permission for the renovations and extensions to the single-storey pub and restaurant, including the removal of the existing front porch to the ground as well as the kitchen and store at the rear of the property and the construction of both, new windows and doors, re-installation of the roof, disabled access ramp, guard rails on the existing front walls, raised patio at the rear of the property and the installation of an air source heater and other internal alterations.
Within Donegal County Council’s planner’s report, it said the new works would “contribute to the long-term sustainability of the business.

Donegal County Council granted the planning permission with five conditions, for reasons including the interest of visual amenity, public health, and to prevent flooding.
A condition was also put in place that the applicant shall pay a contribution of €285.76 in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended will be provided by the Authority.
