A Donegal Town resident was fined at a Donegal District Court sitting at Ballyshannon Courthouse for three separate offences relating to cocaine possession, driving a car without tax, and parking charges.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham fined Odin Devine, 29, of 3 Railway Park, Donegal Town, a combined €430 to be paid within six months, plus costs to Donegal County Council in the fee of €138.
On October 7, 2023, Devine was found to be unlawfully in possession of cocaine at Garda Station, Donegal Town, for which he was fined €200, after being found contrary to Section 3 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and contrary to 27 (1) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 as substituted by Section 6 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1984.

Devine was then fined €150 by Judge Cunningham for being contrary to Sections 73 (1) and 76 (as amended by Section 63 Finance Act 1993), of the Finance Act 1976, after on February 12, 2024, Devine used a car that was not fixed to or exhibited on the vehicle a licence which is both issued in respect of the said vehicle and for the time being in force.
Finally, Devine was fined €80 and ordered to pay €138 in costs to Donegal County Council, after he parked at Water Street, Donegal Town, without displaying a valid parking ticket.
Mr Rory O’Brien, Devine’s solicitor, told Judge Cunningham: “He is a young man who was using narcotics for his own personal use. He has apologised.
“He was caught red-handed. He is currently working. He just wishes for me to convey his wholesome apology.”
