Water hopes to return to Glenswilly area 'in the next few hours'

Water in the Glenswilly area should be restored later today, Sunday.

Following on from Storm Amy on Friday, where thousands of households lost electricity and water, restoration work in continuing throughout the county.

"Just an update on Glenswilly, Newmills and surrounding areas, who are still currently out of water," Cllr Donal Mandy Kelly posted. "I have alerted the Uisce Eireann team and they are working to get the water back up and running.

"Unfortunately, when the power cuts out, the water pumps also stop and in some cases can cause systems to airlock or cause busts. In this case it has caused the mains to burst but the team are currently on the ground fixing it and are confident the water will be back on in the next few hours."
