Seven locations in Donegal have been confirmed as part of a nationwide roll out of recharging hubs for electric vehicles.

A total of 90 hubs, which will deliver a total of 192 new fast recharging points across Ireland, have been announced by Minister for Transport Darragh O'Brien.

The €10 million scheme includes seven sites in Donegal, six of which are on the N56.

Daly’s Service Station on the Letterkenny Road in Lifford, on the N15, is also included.

The other Donegal locations, all on the N56, are: Glenties Services; McClafferty’s Eurospar & Circle K; McIntyre’s Service Station’ Moore’s Service Station; Supervalu Killybegs; and the Wild Atlantic Camp.

These new sites will have an average capacity of typically 250kW, and is part of a wider plan to build a reliable recharging network across the country, with the distance between recharging hubs envisaged as 30km or less.

The recharging hubs are funded through the Light Duty Vehicle (LDV) initiative operated by Zero Emission Vehicles Ireland (ZEVI) and delivered by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

This LDV Phase 3 EV recharging infrastructure is envisaged to be available for public use by the end of the first quarter of 2026.

Minister O’Brien said: “These schemes aim to ensure that drivers across Ireland will have reliable access to high-powered charging, making the transition to electric practical and convenient.
