Sign to warn drivers of flood risks agreed for junction outside Letterkenny

A sign will be erected at Trentagh junction to warn road users of flood risks

A sign will be erected to warn drivers of flood risks at Trentagh junction outside Letterkenny.

The request for the sign was made by Cllr Michael McBride at the October meeting of Letterkenny-Milford MD.

Cllr Michael McBride asked: “That Donegal County Council erect permanent ‘Road Liable To Flooding’ signs in Trentagh and that alternative routes would be signposted as a matter of urgency.”

“This is a chronic problem, the junction floods during every storm,” he explained. “It’s a regular occurrence.

“The Trentagh junction needs a sign. I would ask that this would happen sooner rather than later. The flooding is not going to stop until the road is raised.”

The motion was seconded by Cathaoirleach Ciaran Brogan.

David McIlwaine, Roads and Transportation, said: “In response to representations that have been received, an assessment has been carried out and arrangements are being made to erect signs where required before the end of 2025.”
