Jonathan Bradley, of Straboe, Ballymagan, Buncrana, was charged with being intoxicated to such an extent that he might endanger himself or another person, contrary to Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Public Order Act 1994.

The 31-year-old’s case came before Buncrana District Court, where his solicitor Ciaran MacLochlainn indicated that he wished to enter a guilty plea.

The incident occured at Tullyarvan, Buncrana on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, when Garda Gallagher observed Mr Bradley in a very drunken state in public.

Garda Sergeant Conor Mulkerns told Judge Ciaran Liddy that Mr Bradley had six previous convictions.

Mr MacLochlainn further explained the circumstances.

“My client is a young man. His father approached me as I was coming in the door [of the court] this morning. He’s pleading guilty to the charge.”

“There was nothing unusual here. Gardai came on him and he was the worse for wear at the time.”

Mr MacLochlainn added: “His father tells me that he’s currently working in Dublin, and he’s attending counselling to address his drink problem.”

Judge Liddy imposed a fine of €100, ordering Mr Bradley to pay the sum within three months.
