Dungloe Wind Turbine Action Group reminding locals of deadline for objections

The Dungloe Wind Turbine Action Group is reminding locals to submit objections to a wind plant and substation for Dungloe and the Rosses before the deadline.

A spokesperson said: “How could the developers of The Dungloe Wind Plant say there are no tourist attractions near Dungloe that our closest tourist attraction is the Bridal path in Glenveagh which is 20km away while this beautiful area as many others are right on our door step and we also have The Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival every year.”

“Please submit your objections by October 28, 2025. Planning Application number is.  2561652. Monday 27 is a bank holiday. Submissions can also be done online.

“Please attach your €20 postal order or you can pay over the phone to the council office in Lifford. Put the reference number on your letter as proof of payment.

The meeting of the Dungloe Wind Turbine Action Group was held in the Ionad on Friday night, October 10. It was unanimous in its opposition to siting a wind plant and substation towering over Dungloe and the Rosses. 

The meeting heard from members of the Gweebarra and Graffy Conservation Groups who outlined the many negatives of planning a wind plant on a peat bog near a large rural population and the implications for human health, land and property devaluation, wildlife, particularly birds of prey and the potential to pollute aquifers, wells, lakes and coastal waters if a wind plant were built in Cronashallog.
