Organised by Queen's University Belfast Walkie Talkie Girlies, a walk will take place from Queen’s University → Belfast City Hall

Various buildings across Donegal will light up pink in support of the campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Project Pink will see a network of buildings across the whole of Ireland lighting up pink in solidarity with the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) campaign.

The  Donegal County Council Offices, County House, Lifford, Carndonagh Public Services Centre, Donegal Public Services Centre, Dungloe Public Services Centre, Letterkenny Public Services Centre, Milford Public Services Centre, Polestar Roundabout Sculpture, Letterkenny, will all turn pink in support of the campaign on Wednesday, November 5.

Aisling Cannon, Chairperson and Co-Founder of the Walkie Talkie Girlies Society from Ballybofey, Donegal, said that “We started Walkie Talkie Girlies to create a safe space where people could connect, support one another and get outdoors. Project Pink is about raising awareness and showing a shared commitment to ending violence against women and girls. We are grateful for the support from right across Northern Ireland and Ireland, where public landmarks will light up pink lights in solidarity with the campaign.”

Established in November 2023, the Walkie Talkie Girlies provide a safe and welcoming environment for people to socialise, exercise, and get outdoors through weekly walks. In addition to promoting physical and mental well-being, WTG is dedicated to standing in solidarity with all those affected by gender-based violence.

Last year’s award-winning Project Pink brought together over 600 participants who walked peacefully from Queen’s University Belfast to City Hall. Both buildings were illuminated in pink to symbolise unity and hope. The event drew widespread support, including the Lord Mayor of Belfast, local councillors, MLAs, and community representatives, and was featured on BBC News.
