The latest protest in support of the people of Gaza saw members of the Inishowen Palestine Solidarity Campaign gather at the bridge in Malin on Sunday, November 2.

The monthly ‘Brigil’ [Bridge Vigil] was held as part of the anti-war group’s commitment to highlight the ongoing attacks in Palestine across all areas of Inishowen.

A spokesperson for the group said they want to allow people to join them at their locality, especially for those who may not be able to travel to the various bridges.

The 18th-century arched bridge in Malin provided a perfect backdrop for the Palestinian flags to wave in solidarity and love with the people of Palestine, the spokesperson explained.

Members of the IPSC said their protests will continue until there’s an end to the Israeli attacks on the Gazan population.

“Our protests continue because, since the so-called peace plan came into effect on October 10, at least 225 people have been killed and over 500 injured, half of them children. The Israelis have not ceased firing. Shootings, shelling and airstrikes have continued across Gaza,” a spokesperson said.

“In the West Bank, Israeli settlers have been attacking the residents and their villages causing death and destruction, and they have injured thousands, including foreign activists. They are storming towns and villages, shooting indiscriminately and ravaging the olive harvest. The genocide has spread to the West Bank.”

Additionally, the Inishowen protesters said, only 24 per cent of the agreed amount of aid trucks have been allowed to enter Gaza.

“We condemn the obstruction of aid which is worsening the already deteriorating humanitarian catastrophe and adding yet further suffering to the people of Gaza,” they added.

The group wishes to thank all those who attended in Malin, and for the warm support from the locals.

Meanwhile, the December ‘Brigil’ will be held at Castle Bridge, Buncrana, while there will be further rallies across bridges throughout Inishowen in 2026.
