A Donegal man has pleaded guilty to allowing almost €23,000 of crime cash to flow through his bank account.

Dylan Laughlin appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.

He is charged that between May 3, 2022 and March 3, 2023, at AIB, Upper Main Street, Letterkenny, he did engage in converting, transferring, handling, acquiring, possessing or using property that is the proceeds of criminal activity.

This property was cash lodgements to his AIB account accumulating to €22,958 over the period of 3rd of May, 2022 to 3rd of March, 2023 while knowing that it was the proceeds of criminal conduct or being reckless as to whether or not the said property was the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Laughlin, of Windmill View, Glencar, Letterkenny, only spoke to confirm his guilty plea.

Barrister for the accused, Mr James McGowan SC, with Simon Gillespie, BL, instructed by solicitor Rory O'Brien, said his client had no relevant previous convictions but does have conviction for public order and assault.

He said a probation report would benefit his client, who is now 31.

Judge John Aylmer agreed and adjourned the case for final sentence to the next sitting of the circuit court.
