Two men have pleaded guilty to seriously assaulting another man in a public house in Carndonagh.
Adrian McDaid and Declan McDaid admitted the offence when they appeared at Letterkenny Circuit Court.
The duo were brought to the Circuit Court to affirm signed guilty pleas made at the District Court.
Adrian McDaid, a 50-year-old of Millers Way, Carndonagh and 38-year-old Declan McDaid, with an address at Springfield, Carndonagh were before Judge John Aylmer.
Adrian McDaid replied “yes, guilty” when asked to affirm his plea while Declan McDaid told the court: “Yeah, I do, yeah”.
The pair are charged in connection with an incident at the Glen Bar, The Diamond, Carndonagh, on May 22, 2022. They are charged with assaulting Kenneth Toner and causing him harm, contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
Mr Simon Gillespie BL, barrister for Adrian McDaid, said his client is in receipt of a disability benefit and would benefit from a probation and welfare report.
Mr Ivan Toner BL, representing Declan McDaid, said his client is working but would also benefit from a similar report.
Judge Aylmer asked for probation reports and, noting the backlog currently experienced by the Probation Service, adjourned the matter until the May 2026 session of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
