Ian Gardiner is introduced to the court by solicitor Brian McMullin, in whose firm Mr Gardiner has taken up a position
Solicitor Ian Gardiner has been welcomed to the court in Ballyshannon, having taken up a position with Brian J McMullin solicitors.
Solicitor Brian McMullin introduced him at Ballyshannon District Court on Friday, November 7 ahead of the scheduled court sitting.
“I have the pleasure this morning of introducing my colleague Ian Gardiner to the court,” he said.
“Ian is originally from Athlone. He attended NUI Galway and obtained a Bachelor of Law.
“He commenced training in Dublin and completed it with us in Ballyshannon last year. Ian did his professional training with the Law Society in Blackhall Place and was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in March.
“On behalf of the solicitors in Donegal and on behalf of our firm I am delighted to introduce him to the court.
“The firm of Brian J McMullin dates back to 1899, so there have been many solicitors introduced over the years. We have always enjoyed the courtesy of the court staff and judges, the presiding judge in particular.”
Inspector Dermot Treacy who himself was introduced to the court by Sergeant Oliver Devaney, extended a welcome to Mr Gardiner on behalf of An Garda Síochana.
Court Clerk Connell Melley extended a welcome to Mr Gardiner and Inspector Treacy.
“There has always been a good working relationship between court staff, solicitors, and gardaí,” he said. “I wish you all the best in the years ahead.”
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham expressed her congratulations to Mr Gardiner, adding: “I wish him every success in his new career.
“I have no doubt that Mr Gardiner has learned a great amount from Mr McMullin. It is a firm with great experience and knowledge in all areas of the law. Mr Gardiner is most fortunate to be surrounded by the solicitors, court staff and gardaí in Donegal who I have no doubt will be of great assistance.
Judge Cunningham also extended a welcome to Inspector Treacy.
Mr Gardiner thanked everyone for their kind words.
“I am delighted to be in Donegal and to be practicing here,” he said. “I look forward to working with you all.”

Mr Gardiner is now living in Donegal with his partner, Louise. His parents Karen and Noel Gardiner attended Ballyshannon for his introduction to the court.
