Donegal footballer Finnbarr Roarty with his PwC GAA/GPA Young Footballer of the Year award is interviewed by MC Joanne Cantwell of RTÉ
Finnbarr Roarty had a 2025 that he'll never forget, with a special birthday coming up to round it off.
The 19-year-old became the first-ever Donegal teen to win an All-Star at the RDS, as he was joined by his fellow Donegal winners, Brendan McCole, Michael Langan and Michael Murphy in making the top 25 of 2025.
Roarty was also named the PWC Young Player of the Year, beating off competition from Oisin Conaty from Armagh and Galway's Matthew Thompson. Roarty joins Donegal’s previous winners, Murphy in 2009 and Ryan McHugh five years later, both still with Donegal seniors.
"It's savage," Roarty said. "... to get the award after those two."

As well as winning the Ulster SFC and reaching the All-Ireland final with Donegal, Roarty was the 2025 recipient of the Gradam Shéamuis Mhic Géidigh, the standout player in the Donegal SFC, won by his Naomh Conaill club, following their extra-time win over Gaoth Dobhair last month. They take on Scotstown, the Monaghan champions, in the Ulster Club SFC on Sunday.
Roarty admits when he's home in Glenties, he's just one of the family, with four brothers and two sisters, by saying: "No they treat me like the others. Middle child syndrome!" Kitty, Finnbarr's grandmother, will be celebrating her 100th birthday later this year.
